Clippers down Trail 7-3 for sixth consecutive win

Oct 19, 2022 | 10:13 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers scored 58 seconds into the game and never looked back in a 7-3 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters.

Brody Waters opened the scoring and scored again before the game was four minutes old.

A power play marker by the Smoke Eaters Evan Bushy narrowed the gap to 2-1 shortly after.

Kai Daniells notched his team leading eighth goal of the season early in the second period but quickly Trail tied it up with a power play goal by Quinn Disher and a goal out of a scramble from Adam Marshall.

That seem to bring the best out of the Clippers with Nanaimo scoring the final four goals of the game.

Jeremy Payant and Jake Hewitt tallied before the end of the middle frame and Joel Plante and Hewitt again added to the lead in the third.

Nanaimo outshot Trail 26-22 with Aidan Campbell getting the win over the Smoke Eaters tandem of Teagan Kendrick and Cole Tisdale.

The Clippers went 0/4 on the man advantage while Trail was 2/6.

Nanaimo had scored at least one power play goal in their previous six games.

The Oct. 19 three stars were:

1) Brody Waters 2) Evan Bushy 3) Kai Daniells

The Clippers have won six consecutive hockey games and look to extend their streak when they return home to play the Victoria Grizzlies on Oct. 21.
