UPDATE: Qualicum Beach African serval cats back in their enclosure
UPDATE: Oct, 11,2022: Two African serval cats whose rural Qualicum Beach owners say were deliberately let out of their cage are now back home.
The two servals, Tumaz and Luna, somehow got out of their enclosure in the Meadowood area in the early morning hours of Oct. 3, and immediately killed their neighbour’s cat.
The male, Tumaz, was quickly rounded back up into its catio, but Luna contained to evade capture for about a week.
On Oct. 9, Laurel Bablitz, girlfriend of the serval’s owner Bill Edwards, said a friend alerted her to a Facebook post that Luna was at a neighbour’s house just up the road, in the process of killing ducks the neighbour kept.
