NANAIMO — There is exactly one month until the next municipal election.

Voters will head to the polls to elect new Mayor’s, city or town councillors, Regional District directors and School Board trustees on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Two advanced voting opportunities are scheduled across the region, on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and Wednesday, Oct. 12. Voters in Nanaimo can visit the Beban Park Social Centre between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on both days.

Similar opportunities on the same days and times will also be available at the Parksville Community Centre, Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, Costin Hall in Lantzville as well as a variety of options for voters in the Regional District.

Mail-in ballots are also available for voters who can’t make it to the polls in person.

NanaimoNewsNOW is covering the local municipal races extensively on air and online.

Our NanaimoVotes ’22 information hub has launched containing the latest news from the campaign, profiles of the Nanaimo Mayoral candidates as lists of those running for City Councillor, RDN Director and SD68 Board Trustee.

A new survey tool will debut in early October, giving voters a much clearer look at the stance of candidates on several key issues including downtown revitalization, homelessness and social disorder, economic development and active transportation.

On election night, NanaimoNewsNOW will be live at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre with the latest vote counts and exclusive coverage as the results come in.
