NANAIMO — A new judge is set to work on a growing list of cases in the region.

Judge Tamara Hodge will be sworn in on July 25 after being appointed to the provincial court by Chief Judge Melissa Gillespie.

Hodge is a graduate of the University of Victoria and spent her litigating career as Crown Counsel and was involved in a wide array of cases including homicides.

She was previously based in Colwood, but will have chambers in Nanaimo as part of her new role. Hodge will become the 23rd provincial court judge on Vancouver Island and the sixth sitting in Nanaimo.
