Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival launches anticipated summer events season
NANAIMO — For the first time in two long years, summer events season in Nanaimo will feel a lot closer to normal.
The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival’s return marks the first of three major events on the city’s waterfront in July, all of which attract thousands of people.
Thirty eight teams will race Chinese inspired boats to the finnish line at Swy-a-Lana Lagoon on Saturday July, 9 and Sunday July, 10.
Race director Erik Ages said 1,200 athletes competing in women’s and mixed divisions will provide a continuous entertaining spectacle.
