UPDATE: violent offender captured by Nanaimo RCMP after court order breach

UPDATE: One day after announcing a violent offender was wanted for missing court appearances, police announced the capture of Kyle Gordon Ordway.

He was taken into custody by police without incident on Thursday, June 9 following tips from the public, Nanaimo RCMP annnounced.

Ordway is being held in custody ahead of a future court appearance in Nanaimo.

 

EARLIER — Local mounties are on the lookout for a man they deem a violent offender.

Kyle Gordon Ordway was charged with forcible confinement, theft under $5,000 and assault causing bodily harm for alleged incidents on Feb. 1, 2021 in Nanaimo.

Court records showed Ordway was charged with breaching release conditions in Saanich and was freed following a Jan. 21, 2022 bail hearing.

Less than two weeks later, Ordway was charged again with breaching release conditions in Saanich.

Two separate arrest warrants were issued against Ordway on Feb 22. and March 9.

He is described as 5’10” tall, around 150 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. The picture supplied by Nanaimo RCMP is recent.

Ordway has an extensive criminal record in Nanaimo, Courtenay and Surrey dating back to 2005

A majority of his charges involve property crimes, resulting in several convictions, including multiple jail sentences.
