NANAIMO — The Clippers are Coastal Division champions after completing a four game sweep of the Langley Rivermen with a 6-1 win in Game 4.

Langley scored a first period power goal but then Nanaimo reeled off six straight to advance to the Fred Page Cup.

Kai Daniells scored short handed and Brody Waters notched a man advantage goal before the first period was over.

Keighan Gerrie and Daniells upped the lead to 4-1 through 40 minutes.

In the final frame Langley got an early power and pulled goalie Ajeet Gundarah to gain a two man advantage.

Waters took advantage and scored into an empty net to erase any hopes of a Rivermen comeback.

Charles Tardif tallied later in the third to cap the scoring at 6-1.

Nanaimo outshot Langley 34-32 en route to their 12th straight post season win.

The Clippers will play the Penticton Vees in the league final, who come into the deciding series with a record of 12-1. The Vees lost their opening game of the playoffs to Trail but have been perfect ever since, beating the Smoke Eaters in five games before sweeping both Prince George and West Kelowna.

It will be the seventh time the two clubs have played in the Fred Page Cup series with each team winning three times against the other.

Nanaimo won in 1976, 1977 and 1978 while Penticton took the trophy in 1980, 2008 and 2015.

The series schedule will be announced in the coming days but is expected to start in Penticton around Friday, May 13 with home games in Nanaimo early the following week.
