NANAIMO — A man charged with assaulting a woman and trying to force her into his vehicle had his bail hearing re-scheduled to late next month.

Bradley Dylan William Boscariol, 30, was transferred from holding cells in Nanaimo to the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre in Saanich following a brief Monday, March 28 court appearance in Nanaimo.

He’s charged with assault with a weapon and attempt to kidnap and was arrested a day after the incident on the evening of Thursday, March 24 on Dickinson Rd. near Schook Rd. in Lantzville.

Boscariol requires time to formally hire a lawyer, who will then review the allegations against him in advance, court was told.

A one hour bail hearing is scheduled for the accused on Tuesday, April 26 in provincial court in Nanaimo.

According to Nanaimo RCMP, a suspect in an SUV made strange turns near the victim who was let off a bus on Dover Rd. and walking down Dickinson Rd. to her home.

The suspect then pulled up beside the victim and asked her to retrieve directions on her phone, however, he got out of his vehicle and hit the victim several times with a blunt object, police allege.

Police said the suspect tried to force the woman into his vehicle after the assault.

Officers noted she managed to fight back and run to a nearby home for help, while the suspect followed her a short distance on foot, then drove off.

The victim, in her early 20’s, was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Nanaimo hospital.
