Prolific offender skips court, arrest warrant issued
NANAIMO — A man failed to attend his first court appearance after new charges were laid for property crimes and resisting arrest.
The warrant against chronic property offender Jason Paul Klughart, 30, was issued by a judge on Tuesday March 22, which was scheduled to be the first court appearance for the accused.
Klughart is charged with fraud under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and resisting arrest in connection to alleged offences on Jan. 10 in Nanaimo.
He was sentenced to serve a further four and a half months behind bars last fall, with pre-sentence custody credit, after he pleaded guilty to theft charges and a probation breach for incidents last year in Nanaimo.
