POWELL RIVER — The Clippers won all ten games in their season series with Powell River.

On Feb. 12 Nanaimo never trailed and scored four straight goals to break a 3-3 tie early in the second period en route to a 7-3 win.

Ben Kotylak opened the scoring with his first goal as a Clipper and Keighan Gerrie put the Clippers up 2-0 five minutes into the game.

Powell River scored late in the first period and early in the second to knot things up at 2-2.

By the eight minute mark of the middle frame Nanaimo had taken a 4-3 advantage with Max Itagaki and Sean Donaldson providing the Clippers offence.

In the third period Jake Hewitt scored and Itagaki and Donaldson each added their second of the night.

The Clippers number one line with Itagaki, Donaldson and Tristan Fraser combined for eight points in the victory.

Affliliate goalie Merik Erickson got the win in net, his second as a Clipper.

Nanaimo was outshot 35-34 as they went 1/5 on the power play and 3/4 killing penalties.

The victory was the second in a row behind the bench for assistant coaches Ken McPhalen and Bob Foglietta.

They were pressed into duty for the weekend with full time coaches Darren Naylor and Colin Birkas on temporary leave.

Nanaimo finished the season series going 10-0 against Powell River.

They also finished a stretch of five straight road games with a record of 3-1-0-1.

The team will return home on Feb. 18 and 19 to face Chilliwack and Victoria.
