Cargo ferry dispute to impact Vancouver Island supply chain
NANAIMO — A vital marine commercial cargo carrier which delivers goods between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland is slated to be impacted by strike action.
Seaspan Ferries informed customers their Canadian Merchant Services Guild members are scheduled to begin strike action on Friday, Jan. 21 following failed extended contract negotiations.
Seaspan Ferries will operate limited commercial sailings at 30 per cent carrying capacity beginning Friday afternoon.
One daily round trip to Duke Point and a return sailing to Duke Point six days a week will be permitted during the duration of strike action.
