Nanaimo man, considered violent, wanted by RCMP after failure to appear in court

NANAIMO — A local man is the subject of multiple arrest warrants stemming from an October 2021 altercation.

RCMP said 32-year-old Dayton Anderson missed a scheduled court appearance to answer to charges of break and enter and assault from an Oct. 8, 2021 incident.

It’s alleged Anderson broke into the home of a 52-year-old man, attacked him by punching him in the face which caused the victim to fall off their deck.

Aside from a split lip, the victim escaped major injury.

Police were able to identify him through working with the local Block Watch program and arrested him on Oct. 9, 2021. He was subsequently released in anticipation of his most recent appearance .

Anderson is described as 5’10” tall, 175 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. The picture attached to this story is recent.

RCMP warn Anderson is considered violent and should not be approached. Anyone who sees him should call 911 or the Nanaimo RCMP detachment at 250 754 2345.

He has an extensive criminal record in both Nanaimo and Victoria with several assault, breach of probation, drugs, weapons and motor vehicle-related charges.
