NANAIMO — The Clippers had a week of three road games and finished with a 2-1 record.

Coach Darren Naylor was pleased with the overall results which left the club with a 9-6 record.

“Any time you take two of three you have to be happy with the week. Our special teams were really good, it’s something we’ve been working hard on.”

Nanaimo scored back to back wins, 5-2 over Cowichan on Wednesday, Nov. 10 and 4-2 versus Surrey the following Friday.

The Clippers ended the week with a 5-3 loss to the Langley Rivermen on Saturday.

Nanaimo was led offensively by the BCHL’s First Star of the Week Sean Donaldson who had three goals and five assists and Max Itagaki chipped in five goals in three games.

Naylor said putting the two skill players together is paying dividends.

“They’ve developed some chemistry and there’s a respect between them. They know each guy needs the puck a certain amount of time and they’re helping each other.”

The Clippers have a trio of home games coming up against Alberni Valley Wednesday, Nov. 17, Wenatchee on Friday, Nov. 19 and Trail Saturday, Nov. 20.

The game against the Bulldogs will be a battle for sole possession of second place in the Coastal Division.

Both teams enter the week tied with 18 points in the standings.

CLIP NOTES:

Sean Donaldson was not only the First Star of the Week in the BCHL, he finished Week 6 in fifth place in league scoring with 20 points and tied for first in goals with 12.

Max Itagaki was given an honourable mention for the BCHL 3 Stars of the Week.

The Clippers will hold their retro night on Nov. 20. They’ll wear special jerseys to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the team.
