Itagaki’s two goals lead Clippers to 4-2 win over Eagles

NANAIMO — The Clippers erased a first period deficit and went on to beat the Eagles 4-2 in Surrey.

Kai Daniells opened the scoring 36 seconds into the contest but the Clippers were down 2-1 after the first period.

Max Itagaki on the power play and Sean Donaldson gave Nanaimo a 3-2 lead through 40 minutes before the pair combined on Itagaki’s second goal of the night in the third.

Cooper Black made 37 saves for his ninth win of the season as the Eagles outshot the Clippers 39-37.

Nanaimo was 1/4 on the man advantage and a perfect 6/6 killing penalties.

At the end of the night the Clippers were in a first place tie with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs with 18 points in the Coastal Division Standings.

Nanaimo visits Langley, who sit one point back, on Nov. 13 at 7:15 p.m.
