Man killed in late-night highway crash near Parksville

PARKSVILLE — One man is dead, with a woman airlifted to hospital following a rollover crash near the Island Hwy.

BC Highway Patrol reports emergency crews were called to the exit 51 off ramp of Hwy. 19 to Parksville around 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.

Witnesses said the vehicle left the road, rolled and landed upside down.

“There were two occupants in the vehicle, a 35-year-old male passenger and a 35-year-old female driver both from Oceanside,” a release from Cpl. Michelle LeBrun, BC Highway Patrol, read.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene with the woman taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Investigators are seeking information to aid their investigation, including dash cam footage in the lead up to the accident.

Those with information are asked to contact highway patrol at 250 954 2953.

Police said several witnesses stopped at the scene to help out while emergency crews arrived.
