Final evacuation alert lifted for Crazy Creek Gorge wildfire

SICAMOUS, B.C. — There are no longer any evacuation orders or alerts connected to the Crazy Creek Gorge Forest Service Road wildfire in the Shuswap.

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District rescinded an evacuation alert at noon today for properties in Electoral Area E.

All properties in the rescind area are now all clear of restrictions.

The areas now downgraded to all clear status are as follows:

  • All residences located at Pete Martin Bay and Queest Village, and including those properties approximately 1.5 km south of Queest Village in CSRD Electoral Area E.

As the fire is not completely extinguished, residents are advised to continue to regularly monitor the CSRD website, www.csrd.bc.ca, or the Shuswap Emergency Program’s (SEP) webpage at www.shuswapemergency.ca

The Crazy Creek Gorge FSR fire is located 29 kilometres north of Sicamous, and is estimated at 4,358 hectares and classified as out of control.

It was discovered July 10 with a suspected cause of lightning.
