NANAIMO — Small, local business to the lifeblood of any community and NanaimoNewsNOW is proud to amplify the work they do in our region.

Amplify Nanaimo is an initiative with Pattison Media and Save-on-Foods to nominate and recognize local businesses who go above and beyond in the community.

Nesvogs Meats and Sausage Company was nominated by one reader, who said the service is always friendly and fast, even during busy times.

“People love Nesvogs and when they come…they tend to stop in at the other stores as well that are in this small strip mall,” the nominator said. “They have loads of staff which keeps the economy going. It’s a GREAT business.”

Nesvogs offers up a wide range of fresh meats, prepared salads and meals. They have a small grocery section with seasonings, sauces and other accompaniments to the perfect meal.

Another person nominated Burnt Honey Dessert Company at Country Club Centre, a rapidly growing business offering daily and vegan ice cream and macarons.

“”The owners are two of the most passionate, dedicated, and friendly business owners I have ever met. Not only do they have the best ice cream and macarons ever in the whole world, they are the best people in the whole world as well and this is easily translated into their business”

The nomination also highlighted their inclusive hiring practices, “welcoming to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, orientation, or anything else.”
