WHISKEY CREEK — A motorcycle rider has succumbed to their injuries following a serious crash along Hwy. 4.

Emergency crews were called to a stretch of the highway at the intersection with Jones Rd. in Whiskey Creek, shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 16.

Cpl. Mike Halskov told NanaimoNewsNOW the motorcycle was heading westbound towards Port Alberni.

“The car was on Jones Rd. and turned out onto the highway in front of the oncoming motorcycle and that’s how the crash occurred.”

The motorcycle rider was airlifted to hospital in Victoria with critical injuries and passed away on Monday morning.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital in Nanaimo via ground ambulance.

“According to investigators, impairment has been ruled out as a contributing factor in this collision,” Halskov said.
