PORT ALBERNI – The Clippers led 2-0 early and never trailed in an afternoon matinee against the Grizzlies.

Nanaimo won 9-6 with eight different goal scorers and 11 players getting at least one point.

The win snapped an overall three game losing streak and a four game head to head drought with Victoria.

Liam Ryan paced the attack with two goals and an assist while goalie Ethan Neitsch recorded his first BCHL victory making 36 saves.

Adding to the offensive excitement was a penalty shot goal in the second period by defenceman Michael Craig and a banner night for the Clippers power play which clicked three out of four times.

Nanaimo’s nine goal outburst was the first time since December of 2015 the Clippers have scored that many goals in a single game.

The Grizzlies took the season series four games to two as Nanaimo looks ahead to their final contests against Cowichan Valley (back to back) and Alberni Valley.

The Clippers left the building in third place and tied in points with Cowichan Valley.

Cowichan has another game before the May 7 and 8 clashes with Nanaimo.
