PORT ALBERNI – In the Clippers 6-4 loss to Alberni Valley the goals came in bunches.

The teams traded four first period goals in a spirited opening twenty minutes.

Trevor LeDonne and Tristan Fraser, who both had three points, provided the Clippers scoring.

Chase Klassen scored the only goal of the second period as both Nanaimo’s Jordan Naylor and the Bulldogs Luke Pearson looked sharp in net.

The scoring brigade continued in the third.

After Klassen scored his second goal of the game the Clippers responded on back to back markers by Jack O’Brien and Thomas Maia to knot the game at 4-4.

The Bulldogs broke the tie with an Ethan Bono goal with two and a half minutes to play and secured the win with an empty netter.

Nanaimo had their first multi power play goal game of the season with both Fraser and Maia connecting on the man advantage.

The high shot totals in the Island Pod season continued as well with Alberni Valley outshooting Nanaimo 54-43.

Those same two teams will battle once again on April 20 at 7 p.m.

It kicks off a busy week for the Clippers with other games on April 21 against Cowichan, April 24 versus the Grizzlies, and April 25 against the Bulldogs again.
