AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine now available in Nanaimo, Oceanside pharmacies

NANAIMO — The next step of B.C.’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout program is taking place.

Twelve pharmacies in the Nanaimo and Oceanside region are beginning to offer doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged 55 to 65.

Availability of appointments at each pharmacy is dependant on vaccine supply and will be only for people receiving their first dose of vaccine.

Pharmacies are requesting patients book their appointment online, rather than calling.

The following locations are offering appointments for eligible people:

Costco Pharmacy
Loblaw Pharmacy (Metral Dr.)
Medicine Shoppe (Terminal Ave. & Cedar Rd.)
Rexall (Dufferin Cres. & Southgate Centre)
Save-on-Foods Pharmacy (Country Club)
Shoppers Drug Mart (Country Club)

Parksville
Medicine Shoppe (Island Hwy.)
Pharmasave Health Centre (Island Hwy.)
Shoppers Drug Mart (Island Hwy.)
Tablet Pharmacy (Middleton Ave.)

Qualicum Beach
Medicine Shoppe (Second Ave.)

Immunization clinics continue in Nanaimo at Beban Park and in Cedar, along with facilities in Parksville and Ladysmith.

As of Friday, April 9, those aged 65 or older along with Indigenous people aged 18 and up were eligible to book an appointment online or over the phone.
