PORT ALBERNI – The Clippers are 3-0 to start the BCHL season after blanking Cowichan Valley 2-0.

Jordan Naylor’s 32 saves led the way in a game that was scoreless into the third period.

Nolan Hutcheson and Ethan Jones scored their first goals for Nanaimo in the first half of the third period to give the Clippers all the offense they would need.

The shots finished 33-32 for Nanaimo in the game with the Clippers holding an edge in power plays of three to two.

Naylor was the BCHL’s shutout leader a year ago with six, a number which also set a Clippers team record.

Now he is the first goalie to get a shutout in the pod season.

In three games Naylor has allowed five goals while at the other end 11 different scorers have provided offense.

The same two teams will battle for a third time on April 9 in the Clippers next game.

Nanaimo will wrap up their week with a game versus the Grizzlies on April 10.
