NANAIMO — Another local elementary school is on Island Health’s exposure list for COVID-19.

Mountain View elementary was confirmed to have another case in its population, with exposure events on March 2 and 3.

School District 68 confirmed the news in a late-night tweet on Sunday, March 7. It added Island Health had completed contact tracing.

The school previously experienced a COVID-19 exposure in late-February and had just recently come off the list.

Eight other SD68 schools feature on Island Health’s list. Wellington and Nanaimo District secondary, along with Bayview elementary school all recorded exposure events as recently as March 2.

Cedar, Uplands Park and McGirr elementary schools as well as Dover and Ladysmith secondary schools all recorded exposures in the last week of February.

All are due off Island Health’s monitoring this week, provided there are no further cases.

School District 68 acts as a COVID-19 response team for all districts within Island Health, thanks in part to their experience in dealing with COVID-19 exposure events.
