New COVID-19 exposure events hit three Nanaimo schools

NANAIMO — Island Health has added three local schools to the COVID-19 exposure list.

Dover Bay secondary, Uplands Park and McGirr elementary schools experienced exposure events on Monday, Feb. 22.

According to a tweet from SD68, Island Health has completed contact tracing.

Dover Bay secondary school was a COVID-19 cluster site in November during the first rash of cases in the district. Neither Uplands Park or McGirr were included previously on Island Health’s list.

Island Health currently lists three other mid-Island schools on its COVID-19 exposure list. Ladysmith Secondary experienced a series of exposure events from Feb. 8 to 18.

Aspengrove school had two exposure events on Feb. 18 and 19, while Mountain View elementary experienced a single exposure event on Feb. 16.
