Nanaimo RCMP officer suffers serious, non-life threatening injuries in highway rollover
NANAIMO — An officer en route to assist another member in north Nanaimo suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in a morning crash.
Emergency crews attended to the scene by Nanaimo North Town Centre, between Rutherford Rd. and Oliver Rd. on Hwy. 19A around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15.
A single RCMP cruiser travelling northbound hit a patch of ice, left the road, rolled and come to rest approximately 10 metres from the edge of the northbound lane.
“When his vehicle came to a rest upside down, he managed to crawl out of the vehicle and request emergency assistance,” Cst. Gary O’Brien said in a release.
