Warrant issued for man accused of stabbing at Parksville homeless camp

PARKSVILLE — No-showing for a court appearance led to an arrest warrant for a Parksville man with a lengthy and troubling criminal history.

Hudson David Klassen failed to show up for his scheduled Tuesday, Oct 27 court appearance in relation to a stabbing at a makeshift homeless camp near Parksville’s Wembley Mall on Aug. 10.

A man was stabbed in the shoulder, while Klassen was arrested on the same day without incident, Oceanside RCMP reported.

Klassen was charged with assault, assault with a weapon and breaching court-ordered conditions.

A Nanaimo judge later freed Klassen, granting him bail on numerous court-ordered conditions.

Klassen was convicted and jailed for four months earlier this year for breaking into a Parksville industrial business in January.

The incident was captured on video in real-time.

Klassen has a long history of addiction, property crimes and violence.

He spent eight months in jail last year after pleading guilty to several primarily property related crimes in the Parksville-Errington area.

Klassen was jailed for nearly two years for attacking a woman at an Uplands Dr. apartment unit in Nanaimo in 2012, which turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
