PARKSVILLE — A section of Hwy. 19 has been closed for a majority of the day as RCMP investigate the death of a woman in her 20’s.

Central Island Traffic Services said the woman was found dead on the median of the four lane highway near Exit 51 around 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The discovery closed traffic in both directions for a nine kilometre stretch between Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

Detours were set up to route traffic along Hwy. 19A, past the closure.
