Motorcyclist dies in collision on Island Hwy. in Nanaimo
NANAIMO — A motorcyclist has been pronounced dead after being hit by a vehicle on the Island Hwy. at Turner Rd.
RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said it happened Friday, Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. when a northbound motorcyclist appeared to fail to stop at the red light. He was hit by a vehicle turning left onto the Island Hwy. from Turner Rd.
O’Brien said the man riding the bike suffered life-threatening wounds and was pronounced dead at hospital.
The highway will be closed in both directions for several hours, O’Brien said.
