NANAIMO — Multiple fire halls were on scene of a brush fire in the Woodley Range area, southeast of Nanaimo airport Tuesday afternoon.

Kris Hill from the North Oyster Volunteer Fire Department told NanaimoNewsNOW two helicopters began dumping water on scene of the fire in conjunction with two initial attack crews.

Three local fire halls responded as mutual aid to the fire.

Earlier, the Coastal Fire Centre said an initial crew of three and one helicopter were tasked with fighting the fire and more crews added later.
