NANAIMO — Local police are concerned about the lengths an allegedly violent man will go to see an ex-girlfriend.

David Arlen Thomas is wanted for break and enter and two counts of breaching his probation, stemming from a March 23, 2020 incident.

Thomas is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriends home in the north end of Nanaimo. She fled the home and he wasn’t found.

Later on June 7, Thomas allegedly broke into the same home and chased his ex with bear spray.

He fled on his bicycle before police arrived.

RCMP. Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW Thomas seems to be out of control and is taking his anger out on this one woman.

“It appears the violence is escalating,” O’Brien said. “We know he’s evading police, we believe there’s people helping him in the community and we need to find him.”

Thomas is considered violent and shouldn’t be approached. Arlen has a lengthy criminal history stretching back to 2013

He’s 5’7″, roughly 140 pounds, Indigenous and has a distinctive tattoo on his outer left forearm which says “INDIAN.”

If anyone has information about Thomas they’re urged to call Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
