Nanaimo represents at peaceful local Black Lives Matter, anti police brutality protest
NANAIMO – The message “Black Lives Matter” was heard loud and clear in Nanaimo.
Numerous speakers at the event Friday, June 5 in Maffeo Sutton Park had the crowd of hundreds yelling “Black Lives Matter.”
One of the organizers Sonnet L’abbe read out several names of people, both black and Indigenous, who were killed by police. The crowd chanted back the name of the fallen each time.
