Three more confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Vancouver Island

NANAIMO — The province has provided another update as to the number of COVID-19 cases on Vancouver Island and the province as a whole.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced three new cases on Saturday, bringing the total to 60 in the Island Health Region.

Across the province, the number of confirmed cases has jumped by 92 new cases to 884 including one additional death.

Dr. Henry also highlighted recovery numbers. She said 396 cases, representing 45 per cent of all cases have recovered.

Dr. Henry stressed the need to keep isolation and physical distancing measures up.

“We know that people who have been exposed in the past two weeks will begin to get sick,” Dr. Henry said.

On Saturday morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave his daily COVID-19 briefing from his Rideau cottage home and he announced a new travel restriction.

Beginning noon on Monday, March 30, anyone exhibiting any signs of illness will not be allowed to board domestic aircraft or trains.
