Clippers weekend wrap Feb. 14-15

NANAIMO – The Clippers picked up a pair of crucial divisional wins in their latest outings.

There was only one goal in the Valentine’s Day showdown between Nanaimo and Cowichan Valley.

Josh Bourne’s deflection was his fourth game deciding tally in a six game span.

Jordan Naylor’s 37 save shutout was his BCHL leading sixth.

Nanaimo hosted Powell River on Feb. 15 in a possible first round playoff preview.

The Clippers erased a 1-0 deficit before Captain Ethan Scardina won the game in overtime.

With three games left Nanaimo is five points behind first place Cowichan.

To end the regular season the Clippers play in Port Alberni Feb. 19 and 23, and host the Capitals on Feb. 21.

CLIP NOTES:

If the Clippers end up facing Powell River in the opening round of the playoffs it will be the third straight time. It would also mark the sixth time in seven years the two teams have met in the post season.

With his sixth shutout of the season Jordan Naylor now shares the Clippers single season record with former NHLer David LeNeveu.

Clippers forward Scott Mahovlich is eligible to return to the lineup after serving a five game suspension. Defenceman Devon Mussio will be available again after his three game suspension ends on Feb. 20.
