NANAIMO — A mental health assessment has cleared 34-year-old Joshua Tyler Schaeffer to stand trial on charges related to a Jan. 6 incident at Country Club Centre.

Schaeffer is accused of driving his truck into several buildings and vehicles in an evening rampage that resulted in extensive damage, but no injuries.

He will also go to trial on separate driving-related charges from 2018.

According to Schaeffer’s lawyer, Bert King, Schaeffer understands the nature of charges against him and the current judicial process.
