WENATCHEE – The Clippers followed up their worst result of the season with arguably their best.

Nanaimo won 7-1 in Wenatchee to conclude the first half of their season with a 20-7-1-1 record.

After falling 5-1 in Cowichan Valley on Nov. 22, the team came out strong against the Wild and took a lead 59 seconds in on a goal by Josh Bourne.

Then Steven Agriogianis and Ethan Scardina tallied to give the Clippers a 3-0 advantage.

Bourne put an exclamation point on the first period by scoring again with one second left.

Nanaimo kept pouring it on with second period markers by Mackenzie Merriman and Sean Donaldson.

The Clippers had five goals on their first 14 shots which chased Wenatchee starter Daniel Chenard from the net.

In the third Kyler Kovich put Nanaimo in front 7-0 before Brian Adams broke Jordan Naylor’s shutout bid with just under four minutes left in the game.

The line of Kovich, Scardina, and Bourne combined for eight points in the victory in a game where the Clippers scored seven goals – their highest offensive total of the season.

It also matched the clubs highest margin of victory at six goals, with 12 different players hitting the scoresheet.

Two new players, Evan Benwell and Brandon Dent, debuted for the Clippers in Wenatchee after being acquired on Nov. 28.

Neither recorded any points as the coaches eased them into the

lineup.

Nanaimo will finish the month of November with a game Nov. 30 in West Kelowna.

They take a 9-1 record for the month into that contest.
