Charges potentially coming against four arrested in Cedar for shots fired call

NANAIMO — Charges could be laid against four people arrested and then released after a firearms incident in Cedar.

A substantial police presence responded to calls of shots fired in Cedar off Raines Rd. Wednesday afternoon. Officers found four people, who were arrested at the time. A rifle was also discovered, separate from the four.

They were later released.

Nanaimo RCMP Sgt. Jon Stuart told NanaimoNewsNOW firearms charges could be laid in the case after their investigation.

“Currently we don’t have anybody that actually saw a person holding the firearm. It’s loud, so we had people who heard the shots and called us.”

Stuart considered the incident “fairly minor in the grand scheme of things.”
