Man succumbs to injuries after self-inflicted stabbing in Parksville Community Park

PARKSVILLE — A man has passed away after a disturbing incident in downtown Parksville.

Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman told NanaimoNewsNOW a 50-year-old man was found unresponsive with serious injuries on Bay Street close to the waterfront on Thursday around 2:45 p.m.

The man was airlifted to hospital from the Parksville Community Park as a large crowd gathered to see what had occurred.

He died from the self-inflicted injuries some time later.

Foreman said this is an isolated incident.
