Thousands pay tribute in Nanaimo on Remembrance Day

Nov 11, 2019 | 4:39 AM

NANAIMO — Streets around the Nanaimo cenotaph were packed with thousands of people paying their respects to fallen heroes and those who’s sacrified so much in the name of freedom.

Remembrance Day 2019 saw large crowds along Front St. and Church St. for the military parade, tribute and laying of the wreaths.

As is tradition, the ceremony got underway by singing Happy Birthday to veteran Victor Osbourne, who was born on the day the First World War came to a close.
