Clippers shutout out Kings for third consecutive time

NANAIMO – The Clippers have now shutout the Powell River Kings three straight times this season.

Nov. 3 it was a 6-0 win with goalie Jordan Naylor making 36 saves.

Naylor has three career BCHL shutouts and all of them are against Powell River this season.

Nanaimo has outscored the Kings 12-0 in three matchups with the previous two results both ending 3-0.

Ethan Scardina led the offense with a pair of goals on Sunday, while Steven Agriogianis, Sean Donaldson, Mackenzie Merriman and Jack O’Brien also scored.

O’Brien’s tally was the first of his BCHL career while Merriman picked up his first goal of the season in his third game since coming off of an injury.

The Clippers have now won back to back games for the first time since their seven game winning streak that ended on Oct. 18.

Nanaimo is alone in first place in the Island Division with a record of 13-6-1-1.

Next up for the Clippers is a home and home series with the Victoria Grizzlies on Nov. 8 and 9.

The Clippers will have revenge on their minds after falling 3-2 to Victoria in overtime on Oct. 25.
