125th annual VIEX to take over Nanaimo’s Beban Park

Aug 22, 2019 | 12:54 AM

NANAIMO — One of the oldest agricultural fairs in western Canada is celebrating its 125th year.

The Vancouver Island Exhibition (VIEX) at Beban Park will see a range of rides, entertainment, food trucks and of course livestock from Friday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, Aug. 25.

Fair president Lynn Haley said a big change this year is a vastly expanded family fun zone featuring bouncy castles, rides, face-painting and a new mini golf course.

“It’s huge, it’s probably triple the size of last year and that’s all free,” Haley said.
