Nanoose Bay hit hard by road rehab season

NANOOSE BAY — Dueling traffic construction projects and significant gridlock in Nanoose Bay forced one project to be temporarily abandoned.

Mainroad Mid-Island Contracting announced it is shifting away from road work at the south end of Northwest Bay Rd near the Petro Canada service station.

The announcement was made in response to heavy congestion on the key Nanoose thoroughfare since a City of Parksville project on the road’s north end is taking place at the same time.

Mainroad Contracting said the unexpected overlap of projects was due to the tight summer construction window.
