Nanaimo woman discovers $500K lotto win while waiting for dentist

NANAIMO — A grandmother’s life has changed dramatically after a trip to the dentist turned into a $500,000 lottery win.

Gurmail Sidhu, 79, checked her numbers while waiting for the dentist on July 5.

“I saw a lot of zeroes and asked my son to look. I don’t have words to describe it.” _{Gurmail Sidhu}

Sidhu, 79, came to Canada 40 years ago and has travelled across the province.

She’s lived in Nanaimo for the last eight months to help raise her beloved grandchildren.
