WINNIPEG — The family of a Manitoba woman who was stabbed numerous times and died in her killer’s basement says she didn’t deserve to be left in a shallow grave like garbage.

Brett Ronald Overby was found guilty in May of second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Christine Wood from the Oxford House First Nation.

Wood had come to Winnipeg with her family and disappeared from the hotel where they were staying after going out one night in August 2016.

Her body was found in a ditch outside the city 10 months later.
