Chronic criminal jailed for disturbing offences in Nanaimo and Duncan

NANAIMO — A terrifying Nanaimo home invasion, followed by a Duncan robbery just a few days later landed a prolific offender in jail for two years.

Jordan Daniel Plamondon, 28, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a pair of late January offences and was then immediately sentenced in provincial court in Duncan.

Plamondon broke into a Labieux Rd. home in Nanaimo in the late evening of Jan. 25, forcing two women to barricade themselves in a bedroom.

One of the victims told NanaimoNewsNOW the man didn’t steal or break anything and no one was injured.

“The first time that I saw him you could tell by his face that he was on another planet,” she said.

Nanaimo RCMP said the home invasion as completely random.

Four days later, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP accused Plamondon of stealing a car in downtown Duncan with a woman and her four-month-old child inside.

The woman managed to honk the horn enough to force Plamondon out of the vehicle.

Court records showed he was convicted of robbery for the incident after vehicle theft and assault charges were thrown out.

He was handed two years probation and given a mandatory 10-year firearms ban for his late January crime spree.

Plamondon’s jail term includes credit for time already served in custody.

He has a long history of run-ins with the law, racking up more than 20 convictions.

The former Parksville resident has been in and out of jail since 2011, primarily for property crimes in Nanaimo, Qualicum Beach, Sooke and Langford.

Plamondon’s most recent convictions include teaming up with his father to steal a Nanaimo RCMP bait car last year.
