NANAIMO —The VIU Mariners men’s hockey team extended their winning streak to four games after defeating the University of Victoria Vikes 6-4 Saturday night at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
The BCIHL’s leading goal scorer Garrett Dunlop scored two goals and added two assists in the win. The Mariners sit a top the BCIHL standings with nine points with two games in hand over second place Trinity Western University.
The Mariners will travel to Burnaby next weekend for two games against Simon Fraser University.
In the BCHL, the Nanaimo Clippers lost 4-1 in Powell River Saturday night. Sammy Steele scored the lone goal for the Clippers who have dropped three straight games. The Clippers are back on the ice Friday at home against Cowichan Valley. Game time is 7 PM at Frank Crane Arena.
