NANAIMO — Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old Nanaimo teenager.

Makayla Chang was last seen in Nanaimo on Sunday, March 19. Her family and friends are worried for her and haven’t turned up anything in their search.

Mounties said Chang is usually very active on various social media platforms but hasn’t posted anything since March 20.

Chang is described as 5’1″, 110 lbs. with dyed red hair, hazel eyes and is believed to be wearing a grey hoody with multi-coloured leggings. RCMP said she often wears wigs and sometimes presents as a man.

Investigators said Chang may have travelled to the Lower Mainland with 53-year-old man Steven Bacon. RCMP said Bacon might be able to help locate Change.

He’s described as Caucasian, 5’10”, 210 lbs. with a short white buzz cut and two tattoos, one teardrop under his left eye and another on the back of his right hand.

If you have information on the whereabouts of Makayla Chang, call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345
