Few clues in search for missing woman with ties to Nanaimo

NANAIMO — Concern is mounting for a missing woman who Victoria Police say spends time in that city and Nanaimo.

Francois ‘Frankie’ Farwell, who is believed to be 24-years-old, was last known to be seen on June 15 at a Victoria Starbucks in the city’s James Bay neighbourhood.

Victoria Police Department spokesman Bowen Osoko says Farwell is vulnerable and it doesn’t appear she has been accessing money at her disposal, which is especially concerning.

“She’s developmentally delayed, therefore does put her at risk for exploitation and other things. She’s very kind, described as very soft spoken and very friendly,” said Osoko.

Victoria Police report no tips on Farwell’s whereabouts have been made since a missing person notification was issued on July 12.

A lack of information has led investigators to expand the search for Farwell, according to Osoko.

“We’re expanding our search now. We’re going back to Nanaimo, we’re going to the Lower Mainland, our investigators are reaching out to try to track her down.”

Frankie Farwell is described as black, with an athletic build of about 5’4, 140 pounds and often wears a baseball hat or wig.

Bowen adds that Farwell appears much younger than she is and is often mistaken for a teenager.
