SPCA cuts ribbon on new digs

Jun 20, 2016 | 3:29 PM

To call the Nanaimo and District SPCA’s new location an upgrade is an understatement.

A new $3.4 million, 7,400 square foot facility on Westwood Road was officially opened on Friday, June 17th.

The nearly 12 acre site, adjacent to the Nanaimo Parkway, includes two fenced dog parks available for public use through an annual membership fee.

The branch, which cares for more than 1,300 animals a year, is moving on from its aging Labieux Road home, which was under 2,000 square feet.
