Man hit and killed while jogging on Gabriola Island

NANAIMO — A man is dead after being hit by a car while jogging on Gabriola Island.
The man was jogging with a group of people on Berry Point Rd. when he was hit near the Twin Beaches Mall around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, RCMP said in a release.
He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.
RCMP said the vehicle crossed both lanes before hitting the man but at this point they don’t know exactly why or what happened. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
