Multiple RV’s destroyed in non-suspicious Coombs fire

Sep 29, 2017 | 10:58 AM

COOMBS — A strong response kept a sizeable fire inside an RV lot in Coombs from getting out of control.

Coombs-Hilliers volunteer fire department chief Aaron Poirier told NanaimoNewsNOW the blaze was reported at 10:15 p.m. Thursday night.

Four RV’s in the Access RV storage lot on the Alberni Highway were completely destroyed by the flames. Poirier said a fifth was also damaged.

There were no injuries during the 30 minutes it took to quell the fire.

Poirier said it would have been a much different situation if they weren’t assisted by other communities, such as the Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Dashwood and Errington fire departments.

“We’re really lucky to have their assistance,” he said. “Less spread, less damage and less hardship to taxpayers.”

Oceanside RCMP responded as well. They confirmed they’re not investigating the fire since it was found to be non-suspicious
